Developing a strong financial and support base is important to the success of LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc. The state's agricultural and rural communities sponsor LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc. The founding partners of the program are: the
University of Maryland Cooperative Extension, the
Maryland Department of Agriculture, the
Maryland Farm Bureau, the
Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation, and the
Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board. These and many other visionary organizations, businesses, foundations and individuals financially support and assist the program. Sponsors benefit by building the leadership capacity of those who serve them as industry leaders, board members, employees and elected officials.
Contributions from sponsors cover more than 80 percent of program costs. The LEAD Maryland Foundation needs financial contributions to cover:
- Seminar costs, including training and teaching supplies, lodging and meals, and local transportation during each three-day seminar.
- The costs of air and ground travel for domestic and international study tours, as well as lodging, most meals and training.
- Program development and promotion, volunteer and alumni support and other operational expenses.
LEAD Maryland Foundation also depends on in kind contributions. Volunteers serve on our board and committees, teach, speak or host tours at the seminars.
Each Fellow is responsible to pay a tuition, though most successfully seek and secure scholarships or local community support to assist with tuition costs.
LEAD Maryland is an investment in people and an investment in the future, with both time and money well spent.
